Member of the Maryland Senate from 1979 to 1991, took a leading role in creating the University System of Maryland, privatizing the University of Maryland Hospital, as well as establishing the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Community College of Baltimore County; Chairman of the Shock Trauma Board of Visitors; Member of the Board of Directors of the University of Maryland Medical System; Vice Chairman, Morgan State University Board of Regents; Named "Entrepreneur of the Year," Loyola College's Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Society; Named one of the top Irish Business Leaders in the United States; Member, Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame. Graduate of Villanova University, six years of service in the Army National Guard.
