Effectiveness and Efficiency Work Group
The Effectiveness & Efficiency (E&E) Work Group is a special
work group created by the Board of Regents and the Chancellor to review the
academic and business operations of the University System in order to maximize
the effectiveness of the System and, where possible, increase its efficiency.
The E&E Work Group is chaired by David Nevins, chair of the Board
of Regents, and includes representatives from both the Board and the USM
leadership
The goals of the Work Group include improving the academic quality
of the System and its institutions, maintaining access to the University
System for Maryland's citizens, identifying and implementing measures that
ameliorate the impact of reduced state and private support, and promoting
the effective, efficient, and principled use of all resources entrusted to
the System.
The role of the Work Group will be to provide policy guidance and oversight
of the E&E process on a System-wide basis, operate as a clearinghouse
for initiatives, monitor activities, and review results based upon pre-established
benchmarks. The Work Group will operate as a special, on-going BOR committee
and will work with the established USM councils to carry out its charge.
The following letter letter, from the workgroup's
initial Chairman Kendall, and Chancellor Kirwan to the USM
community, provides more information on the E&E Work Group.
Other information on the Work Group will be included as it becomes
available. In the meantime, the Work Group strongly encourages all members
of the public with ideas or suggestions for how USM activities and programs
can be improved to e-mail their suggestions by clicking on the link below.
All information received will be forwarded to the Work Group for its consideration.
