Student Regent Caitlin Heidemann was born and raised in Maryland. She maintained an impressive GPA at Old Mill High school in Anne Arundel County, where she was captain of the varsity field hockey team, on the varsity lacrosse team, and a member of the National Honors Society. During her senior year of high school, she was elected by the Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils and commissioned by the Governor of Maryland to serve with a full vote as the Student Member on the Anne Arundel County Board of Education. In addition to several County and State political citations, she was contacted personally by the United States Secretary of Education, Rod Paige, in recognition for her dedication to public service.
After graduating from high school with honors in 2004, Caitlin spent one year at Loyola College in Maryland. While at Loyola, she earned a 3.78 GPA and was elected Vice-President for the Maryland Independent College and University Association (MICUA) Student Network. She was a member of the Community Service Council, Co-President for the Resident Affairs Council, and a member of the Peer Judicial Board.
In the fall of 2005 she transferred to the University of Baltimore (UB). Currently a senior majoring in jurisprudence, Caitlin has maintained a 4.0 and has been extremely active in student advocacy. She is a member of the Helen P. Denit Honors Program and the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity. She served on the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) Student Advisory Council where she was elected Finance Policy Segment Chair. Caitlin also served on the University of Baltimore Undergraduate Student Senate as the College of Liberal Arts Representative where she sat on the Retention Committee and worked to enhance student life at UB.
Caitlin is the recipient of several prestigious awards including: The Marjorie S. Holt Citizenship Award, The Ray Kroc Youth Achievement Award, Maryland Gazette Teen of the Week, Washington Post Spot-light Athlete, the John J. Leidy Scholarship, and scholarships from Delegates in District 32.
In her free time, Caitlin coaches the Olde Mill Swim Team and interns at a law firm in Annapolis. She plays on two recreational soccer teams with her family and enjoys spending time with her friends.
Caitlin is the first UB student to serve on the Board of Regents.
