    Email Council 

1. Before we can decide on what it is we're going to do, we must first evaluate what we have done, and what we haven't done. Self-evaluation is difficult, therefore, it is in our best interest to invite a facilitator to help us focus on the critical issues, and successes, failures and how we can best serve the Staff of the University System of Maryland in the future. We should view this as a "proactive" process, near or close to a strategic planning session, not the demise of CUSS.

2. Guests

• It is probably a good idea to invite past chairs, alternates, and a selected few past and active council members to get an accurate historical perspective. We often call upon these individuals and they usually graciously accept our invitation.
• We should invite members of the Board of Regents, Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Joe Vivona, and others as appropriate -inclusive of the Attorney General.

3. It is probably a good idea not to focus too much on "Collective Bargaining", although it is the reason we are having this retreat. We are gathering to determine how best to advise the Chancellor and Board of Regents as mandated by the legislation (SB207).
4. This is an all day event beginning at 8:00 A.M. and ending at 5:00 P.M. Breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks will be served -hopefully sponsored by the Chancellor...

   • Successes and Failures
   • Facilitator Session I -fact finding (format and topic determined by the facilitator)
   • Facilitator Session II -future (format and topic determined by the facilitator)
   • Facilitator Session III -presentations and recommendations
