                                                          CHAPTER_____ 

                AN ACT concerning 

                                             University of Maryland System Board of Regents 

                FOR the purpose of requiring the Board of Regents of the University of Maryland System to appoint 
                establish a Council of University System Staff. 

                BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, 

                Article-Education 

                Section 12-201 

                Annotated Code of Maryland 

                (1992 Replacement Volume and 1994 Supplement) 

                SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That the Laws of 
                Maryland read as follows: 

                                                         Article-Education 

                12-201 

                (a)(1)The Board shall establish: 

                (i)A Council of University System Presidents; 

                (ii) A Council of University System Faculty; [and] 

                (III)A COUNCIL OF UNIVERSITY SYSTEM STAFF; AND 

                [(iii)](IV)A University System Student Council. 

                (2)These councils shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Chancellor and may, from time to time, make
                reports and  recommendations to the Board. 

                (b)The Board may appoint committees to advise it in exercising its authority. 

                SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED. That this Act shall take effect October 1, 1995.
